What do moody cats, DIY projects, and baby sharks all have in common? YouTube.

As one of the most popular free video streaming services, it’s not shocking to read that YouTube generates some big money for Google’s parent company, Alphabet, but, as reported by The Verge, this is the first time in ist 15 years under the Google umbrella that Youtube’s numbers have been revealed to the public.

At 15 billion dollars generated, YouTube supports about ten percent of Google’s revenue. This comes easily when YouTube charges 20 million accounts/subscribers for Premium benefits.

Verge goes on to contrast that though Google’s profit expectations are blown out of the water, they still failed to make needed revenue. This has led to a decrease in Alphabet’s stock value.
