Taco Bell responds to a desperate need for more workers by raising the salary of their managerial positions to an upward of $80,000. They are hoping to use this higher salary margin (minimum of $50,000) project not only to bait more employees but to encourage their longevity in the position. This position upgrade will initially only apply at certain stores in the Midwestern and Northeast areas of the U.S.

Bloomberg made mention that low unemployment is altering fast food as we know it, “which for decades has been seen as the quintessential low-wage job.” They also reported that the unemployment rate hasn’t been as low as it was recorded this past November since 1969, some 50 years ago.

This combined with ever-rising hourly wages makes Taco Bell’s 100k position seem a little less outlandish. But what do you think? Is a fast food manager’s position worth $100,000? Will this really help economic strain or really hurt it? Let us know your opinion on Facebook or in the comments section below.
