Ryan Kaji has been the star of his own YouTube channel since the age of four. He’s a sage eight-years-old now and his videos have garnered nearly 40 million views.

Kaji has a dedicated audience who loves to tune in and watch him playing video games, which has led to him being named by Forbes magazine as the highest-earning YouTube star in 2019.

How much?

Brace yourself.

This not-even-a-teen-yet kid has earned $22 million, according to Forbes.

While everyone in the adult world, especially anyone over about 30, are busy doing things like raising kids and trying to build a legacy of some description in an increasingly competitive career world, children between eight and 12 want to grow up and be a “YouTuber,” according to a Harris Poll/LEGO survey.

TheConversation.com delved into this topic and examined other polls showing a teenagers 54% of Americans aged 13 to 38 would become an “influencer” given the chance, with 12% already considering themselves influencers.

Hollywood doesn’t have the saw allure as it did even a generation ago, and growing up to be a doctor, fireman, policeman or astronaut? Maybe if it’s an avatar on a gaming platform.

An influencer is a new enough term that defines someone who has a large enough following on social media that they can make a marketable impression on their followers.

Marketing wizards have been quick to grab this new market, using top influencers to use products in their videos. Someone with a massive following can get hundreds of thousands of dollars for one Instagram post, for example, just for using the product.

The Kardashians can charge more than a million bucks for a single post.

Micro- or nanoinfluencers, people with a smaller number of followers between 10,000 and 50,000, can still draw from the money pool – up to $30,000-60,000 instead of the few hundred bucks from a couple of years ago. Today, they get a minimum of a few thousands dollars a post, according to Vox.com.

So if you’ve got some bright ideas, know how to apply some rad makeup, or something out of the box, don’t hesitate to give it a shot.

It isn’t the future.

We’re talking about Now.
