Falcons Fall In First Preseason Game

falconsAtlanta, GA- Following the Falcons’ starters grabbing an early 3-0 lead against the Bengals, the reserves and practice squad players wound up surrendering 34 points to the Bengals en route to a 34-10 loss.

The offensive line was expected to be a concern for the Falcons- even before starting tackle Mike Johnson suffered a season-ending ankle injury last week in practice. Second-year lineman Lamar Holmes is expected to step in for Johnson.

Matt Ryan started off his preseason campaign with a 6-9, 89 yard performance…however, it is his backups who might be feeling the heat this preseason. Ryan was the only Falcons’ QB to attempt a pass last year. Currently on the roster are 2nd year signal caller Dominique Davis and rookie Sean Renfree (Duke). Neither has completed a pass in an NFL regular season game in their careers.

Next up: Thursday at Baltimore, 730pm.
