THOMASVILLE — Thomas University’s Men’s Soccer (4-0-2) (TSC 0-0) team remains undefeated after tying the Georgia Southwestern Canes (2-2-1) 2-2.

The Canes struck first just inside eleven-minutes of the game, putting them ahead of TU 1-0. Sophomore Jake Slocombe would answer back just 58 seconds later on the assist by Sophomore Severin Abt, deadlocking the game at 1. Neither defense caved through the remainder of the first half, refusing any additional goals.

The second half was a battle of defense and stamina. Freshman Jonathon McGrath rallied and scored TU’s second goal off of Junior Lyle Gifford’s boot, giving the Night Hawks their first lead of the match, 2-1. The lead, however, was shortly savored. GSW would knot the game at 2, scoring their second goal as they approached the 55th minute.

The battle of the defenses would propel the game to double overtime. The match would remain deadlocked, diminishing any hope GSW had on defeating the unbeaten Night Hawks of Thomas University. Your Night Hawks would return home with a record of 4-0-2, upholding their title of undefeated.

“Our guys continued to show their diligence on the defensive side of the ball,” said TU Head Men’s Soccer Coach, Ricky Zambrano. “I am proud of them for working hard at practice and carrying out their responsibilities on the pitch. I hope we can continue this reputation as we look to begin conference matches.”

Be sure to catch your Night Hawks on the pitch this Saturday at Thomas University’s Soccer Complex. They will be taking on Middle Georgia at 4:00 P.M.
