VALDOSTA, GA – The awards continue to roll in for Valdosta State softball, with Courtney Albritton, Shelby Altman, and Brianna Hancock all receiving National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region honors, as announced by the NFCA on Thursday.

Mirroring their Daktronics All-Region honors earlier this week, Albritton and Altman represented the Blazers as First Team NFCA selections this year, while Hancock’s efforts on the diamond earned the senior a spot on the Second-Team.

Of the 26 student-athletes that received South All-Region honors, 16 of those came out of the Gulf South Conference. Furthermore, the GSC contributed eight of the 13 First Team honorees.

No. 8 Alabama-Huntsville led the way with five players making the cut in the South Region, while Rollins served up four student-athletes. The No. 16 Blazers followed with three selections, while No. 5 Tampa, Shorter, West Alabama, North Alabama, and Palm Beach Atlantic each saw two players earn recognition.

NFCA member coaches in the eight regions selected this year’s All-Region teams and all honorees now become eligible for selection to one of three NFCA Division II All-American squads to be announced the night of Wednesday, May 21.
