ATLANTA – The GA Department of Education’s Superintendent says the recent Title IX policy change is a federal government overreach.

Release:

Georgia protects, and will continue to protect, all students from all forms of harassment within our schools. The recent Title IX policy change issued by President Biden and the federal government is a clear overreach and misinterpretation of Title IX.

I am certain this overreach will be legally challenged and the constitutional and inherent rights of the state of Georgia and its citizens – and the local authority of our school districts – will be maintained. I will be reaching out to the Office of the Attorney General to determine the best course of action.

Let me be clear: I firmly support the individual’s right to be protected from any form of harassment. Local school systems will continue to protect students and staff. President Biden, the U.S. Department of Education, and the federal government need to step back and allow us to do our job. Georgia will continue to do the right thing.
