GBI investigates two shooting deaths

MILLEN – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting deaths of two Georgia residents.

At the request of the Millen Police Department, GBI agents are investigating the death of Tyrell Brown, age 28, of Garfield, Georgia and Maxine Jones, age 48, of Millen, Georgia. 

The investigation shows that on March 24, 2024, at about 1:45 a.m., the Millen Police Department responded to the Annie P. Chance Veteran’s Center located on Acorn Avenue, Millen, Georgia in reference to a shooting. Law enforcement arrived on scene and found Jones with a gunshot wound and Brown with no immediate signs of trauma. Brown and Jones were pronounced dead at the scene.  

At about 7:10 a.m., another shooting incident occurred on Wasdin Street which appears to be connected to the first incident. No victims were injured during this shooting. 

The bodies of Brown and Jones will be taken to the GBI Crime Lab in Pooler, Georgia, where a GBI medical examiner will perform autopsies to determine a cause and manner of death.
