VALDOSTA — A somewhat bizarre shooting involving two men, reportedly in a relationship, ends with no arrests pending.

Tuesday afternoon, from a 911 report, Valdosta Police located a Hispanic male in the 500 block of West Gordon Street.  The man had a handgun in his possession.

The 911 report stated a Hispanic male was running in neighborhood telling people that someone was trying to harm him.

Officers secured the handgun from the man who told police he was in Valdosta from Florida to meet with an African-American male he had met online.

The Hispanic male and the African American male, in his 20’s, had become intimate.  In the Hispanic male’s version of events, he had decided he wanted to stop physical contact with the African-American male.  The African-American male became irate and threatened the victim with a knife. The Hispanic male said he then grabbed a handgun that was lying on a dresser and fired one round toward the ground to scare him. He then stated that the African-American male dropped the knife and ran out of the house after the gun was fired. The Hispanic male then ran from the residence not knowing if counterpart was going to return to the residence.

Officers also received the version of the story from the African-American male after finding him.  His side of the story stated the Hispanic male had become angry after talking with him, and then he grabbed the aforementioned gun and tried to shoot him.

Based on the severity of the situation and conflicting statements, authorities have elected to not pursue charges at this time.  However, the case is being investigated.
