A new analysis has revealed the summer dresses that can be expected to be spotted in Georgia this year – and it turns out print is the most fashionable.
The research, conducted by online fashion retailer boohoo.com, used Google Trends to find which is the most popular style of summer dress in each state, using data from the past 12 months.
Now that winter is out the way, the promise of sunshine doesn’t seem as far away, and many will be starting to stock their wardrobe in time for summer – with some even braving wearing the outfits already on the warmer days of spring.
It turns out print is the most loved look for summer dresses in Georgia, as it was the top related term.
In fact, it was the number one choice in nearly a quarter (24%) of all states – including Colorado, Massachusetts and Texas – suggesting residents in the state like to follow trends.
Pink summer dresses are the second most popular look, as this color was the top related term in six states, with Illinois, Iowa, New Jersey, New York, South Carolina and Tennessee all on board with the look.
Black, green and orange summer dresses are joint third for the most favored summer dresses, as the colors are the preferred choice in three states each.
California, Maryland and Vermont are sticking to a safer look favoring black dresses, while Kansas, Mississippi and Wisconsin are more daring with their pick of green.
Arkansas, New Hampshire and West Virginia are going even bolder, with orange as their preferred look for summer dresses.
Although not as well-liked, classics such as blue, brown, cream, yellow and white will also make appearances as the weather warms up, as well as lavender and patterned summer dresses, with these styles being the most popular in two states each.
Arizona, Ohio and Oregon are more particular with the look they are going for, searching specifically for light blue, royal blue and navy blue, respectively.
Some states are straying from the norm completely, for example, South Dakota is the only place to opt for gold as their summer dress of choice.

Commenting on the findings, a boohoo.com spokesperson says:
“Now that we have entered spring and the countdown is on until summer, people will already be dreaming of the outfits they can wear in the warmer weather – without having to cover them up under numerous layers.
“Summer dresses are always a good choice once we begin to see some sunshine, creating a stylish look effortlessly.
“While the timelessness of the likes of a black summer dress means we always expect to see this crop up again each year, it’s interesting to see that print dresses are the most popular when looking across states.
“If you are yet to start shopping for your summer wardrobe and want to blend in, print is the way to go. If you are hoping to stand out, a purple or red would be a more fitting choice.”
