It’s a new term going around for when you break up with someone right before Valentines Day. A British writer chose the word because, ” you’re too tight to get them a gift, write a card, or make any kind of fuss.”

Going beyond not wanting to overspend, it may also signal that you don’t want to show too much investment into the relationship itself.
