VALDOSTA — A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle around 5:08 a.m. this morning.

The Valdosta Police Department responded to reports of a pedestrian getting hit by a Ford Ranger. The pedestrian, Lance Bernard Russell was hit while walking on the block of 400 Gil Harbin Industrial Boulevard.

Police believe Russell was walking too close to the road and that the vehicle never left the roadway.

Russell was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been notified and no charges have been filed against the driver of the Ranger.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
