A new study from Answering Service Care reveals that the Southern accent is officially the friendliest in the U.S., with over 1 in 3 Americans ranking it as warm and welcoming. It’s survey of 2,000 U.S. residents also found that Texan and Hawaiian accents followed closely behind, reinforcing the connection between accents, hospitality, and a relaxed way of life.
Key Findings:
- Southern charm reigns supreme – The Southern accent (Louisiana, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and South Carolina) was ranked the friendliest in the U.S., with over 1 in 3 people finding it warm and welcoming.
 - Hawaiian accent takes second place – With 34% of the vote, the Hawaiian accent was also ranked the most soothing, reinforcing its laid-back and welcoming reputation.
 - Texan twang ranks third – 31% of respondents voted the Texan accent among the friendliest, further proving the South’s reputation for hospitality.
 - The least annoying accent? Alaskan! – Only 3% of respondents found the Alaskan accent irritating, making it the least annoying in the U.S.
 - Other accents Americans don’t mind – The Utah, Mountain West, and Southwestern accents all received low annoyance scores, with less than 5% of respondents finding them bothersome.
 - The most charming accents – The Southern, Hawaiian, and Texan accents were consistently ranked as the most charming in the U.S.
