Unattended cooking leads to Valdosta house fire

VALDOSTA – The Valdosta Fire Department recently responded to a residential fire that was started by unattended cooking.

Release:

On Saturday April 20, 2024, at 12:12 PM, the Valdosta Fire Department was dispatched to a residential fire at 704 E. College Street. Fire units arrived on scene in less than four minutes to find smoke coming from a single-family residence. Fire personnel quickly brought the fire under control and confirmed that there were no occupants inside. No injuries to civilians or fire department personnel were reported. The American Red Cross was called to assist with displaced occupants.

The cause of the fire is unattended cooking.

Valdosta Police Department and SGMC Health EMS assisted on scene.
