Vehicle break-in victim helps VPD make arrest

On January 31, 2021, at approximately 12:41 am, patrol officers with Valdosta Police Department responded to the 2500 block of Orlando Drive about a subject, later identified as Nathaniel Thomas breaking into a vehicle. The victim followed the offender and was able to show the responding officers the direction Thomas had ran. Thomas was quickly located and detained. The homeowner advised his security system notified him that someone was on his property. He then checked and found Thomas had entered one of his vehicles. At that point, the victim called 911 and he attempted to run after Thomas. Thomas was arrested and transported to Lowndes County Jail where he was charged with theft by entering a motor vehicle (Felony).
