Domestic dispute in Valdosta leads to a shooting

On January 20, 2021, at approximately 12:35 am, patrol officers with Valdosta Police Department responded to the 1100 block of Jo Ree Street, to investigate a domestic dispute involving a firearm. Officers arrived on the scene and heard loud arguing coming from inside an apartment. The two subjects arguing were later identified as Nino Franklin and True Jones. The investigation revealed that Jones and a friend came to the location to get some of Jones’ belongings that she had left at the location after moving out. During this incident, Franklin shot at the victim with a firearm, then broke the victim’s windshield. Further investigation found that during the argument Jones had intentionally broken a window in the apartment. Officers collected evidence to include the handgun.

Franklin was arrested and charged with aggravated assault (Felony), possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony (Felony), and criminal trespass damage to property (Misdemeanor).

Jones was arrested and charged with criminal trespass damage to property (Misdemeanor). Both Franklin and Jones were transported to Lowndes County Jail.
