Salem, VA- The attempt to repeat as national champions took a bit of a detour for the Valdosta State softball team yesterday in the first round of the NCAA championships. Needing only one more out with a 4-1 lead in the 7th inning, Molloy COllege stormed back with five hits and three runs to send the game into extra innings.

In the 8th, VSU would fail to get a single out before Molloy hit a walk-off single to take the game, 5-4.

VSU’s next game is an elimination game Saturday at noon against Armstrong Atlantic.
