Brooks County Back To Practice After Deadly Crash

bc-memorialFor the first time since three of their teammates were killed in a wreck after practice, the Brooks County Trojans returned to practice on Tuesday. Less than 72 hours after the team gathered to lay Shawn Waters and Johnie Parker to rest, they were back on the field preparing for their season opener against Clinch County.

Head football coach Maurice Freeman called the return to practice a way ‘to get your life back together.’ Freeman said he expects the fourth teenager involved in the wreck, De’Vron Whitfield, to return to the team when he is cleared by a doctor.

The funeral for Jicarrie Watkins is scheduled for this Saturday at 11am at Veterans Stadium in Quitman.
