Former Wildcat, Current Dawg Mitchell Out For Season

vhs-catsSaturday night’s game against Clemson not only tagged Georgia with a loss on the scoreboard, but also a major loss on the field. Former Valdosta Wildcat and current UGA receiver Malcolm Mitchell will miss the rest of the season after suffering an ACL injury following Georgia’s first touchdown Saturday night.

Mitchell went to celebrate with Todd Gurley following a 75-yard run when he landed awkwardly, seriously injuring his right ACL.

Mark Richt confirmed after the game that he was worried Mitchell might have suffered a serious injury. Tests on Sunday revealed his fears were justified.

“[Mitchell] actually hurt it in the exuberance of the first touchdown of the game for us when he went to congratulate his teammate,” Richt said. “I think he jumped up and chest bumped or whatever, and he landed in a bad way and that’s when he knew something had happened.”
