A new report released Monday shows Florida taxpayers shelled out over $2.6M in security for Governor Scott, his wife Ann, and other visitors between July 2012 and June of this year.
That $2.64M marks the highest spent by state authorities on security in the past eight years. The biggest share of costs was spent on agents to provide around-the-clock security for the Governor, as well as security for First Lady Ann Scott.
Also not helping the state’s security budget was the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa- Florida used state money to provide security details to nearly every GOP governor that attended last year’s convention.
