DHS collecting donations for adults in need with Light Up the Holidays

Share with friends

Release:

The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) is collecting holiday gifts for older Georgians and adults with disabilities who are under guardianship. DHS is appointed as a guardian of last resort for adults who are unable to make their own decisions and who have no one in their lives to advocate for them. Make the holidays bright this year by donating some wish list items!

WHAT: Light Up the Holidays. One of the consequences of the COVID-19 is increased feelings of loneliness and isolation. The goal of Light Up the Holidays is for people in the care of the state to feel they are not forgotten. Hundreds are at risk of not having a gift for the holidays. Sponsor an adult under guardianship to make the holidays special.

WHEN: Donations are accepted up to Nov. 12, 2021.

DETAILS: Email the Light Up the Holidays Gift Drive Coordinator at dasgiftdrive@dhs.ga.gov to get a client’s holiday wish list. Schedule a contactless drop off via the email above or mail your items to:
