Press Release:

DISCLAIMER: We have a backlog of good news stories to share. After asking our VCS followers if they would like for us to share a “Daily dose of good news” the overwhelming answer was YES. So we will continue to share that info with our media partners as well. Hopefully, your followers would also like to see a little light in the midst of this dark cloud.

The Lowndes Drug Action Council, Inc. (LODAC) is an organization committed to serving young people and their families in the Valdosta-Lowndes County area and has done so for over 30 years.

This local, non-profit agency is working with area schools to offer much-needed services. Newbern Middle is thrilled to have LODAC assisting in the much-needed area of student attendance, a new critical service available to their community partners.

The organization hosts small group sessions with students from all grade levels of the school. These sessions target improving attendance by decreasing absences and reducing student tardiness and early checkouts. During these sessions, small group leaders work to address the causes and reasons for absences/tardiness.

NMS principal Dr. Ponder,  representatives of LODAC, and donations from other community partners will only assist in furthering the success of the program.  Everyone at Newbern is grateful for LODAC and their support!
