Valdosta Sanitation resumes resident garbage collection

VALDOSTA – The City of Valdosta’s Public Works Department a resumed resident garbage collection after Hurricane Helene.

The City of Valdosta’s Public Works Department has resumed residential garbage collection as of Thursday, October 3.

Here are some guidelines to follow to ensure proper disposal procedures:

  • Sanitation crews will only collect green roll-out cans that are accessible. If an area is deemed impassable or dangerous, collection services will not be provided for that location.
  • Residents are asked to place their green roll-out cans by the curb and to ensure that only household trash is placed inside. Bulk items and yard debris should not be mixed with household garbage.

Temporary drop-off stations will remain open for household waste disposal only, until further notice, at the following locations:

  • 708 Barack Obama Blvd.
  • 1680 Baytree Rd.
  • 1025 W. Hill Ave.
  • Payton Park (Griffin Ave @ Devine St)
  • 3124 N. Oak St. Ext.

NOTE: The 5 Points Recycling Center will remain closed until further notice. Any storm-damaged trash cans will be replaced as soon as possible.
