Lowndes I-75 exit 11 interchange now open to traffic

LOWNDES CO. – The new Interstate 75 ramps at the exit 11 interchange in Lowndes County are now open to traffic.

Release:

The Georgia Department of Transportation announces the new I-75 ramps will be opening at the Exit 11 interchange in Lowndes County on June 25th around 9 am.

What: The contractor reconstructing an Interstate 75 (I-75) interchange will be moving traffic to new on and off ramps for northbound and southbound traffic. The new southbound entrance ramp will now be approximately 3900 feet long and the new northbound entrance ramp will be approximately 3700 feet long. The extended length will assist motorists merging onto I-75.

Where: I-75 Exit 11/State Route (SR) 31 interchange, Lowndes County.

When: Scheduled for June 25. Around 9 am, after morning traffic, the contractor will begin removing road markings and signs at the existing ramps and installing both at the new locations. The traffic signals on SR 31 will be moved to the new ramp locations. Deputies will assist with traffic while work is being done. Please schedule extra time and be prepared for traffic delays if you must travel through this area.
