VALDOSTA – According to Corporal Ryan Harding of Georgia State Patrol Post 31, at approximately 12 p.m., Trooper Joseph Brown responded to a fatality collision on GA-31 near Old State Road in Lowndes County.

A silver sedan was traveling south of GA-31 when it failed to maintain its lane of travel, hitting a white Ford Fusion that was traveling north.

The silver sedan then hit another northbound vehicle, a red Ford Forcus.

The driver of the silver sedan was trapped and had to be extricated from the wreckage. The passenger, Deborah Weixl, 68, was pronounced dead on the scene.

All parties involved were transported to South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta for treatment.  The investigation of the collision is still open; Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene.
