Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office Recieves State Grant

Lowndes County Police Car VALDOSTA, GA – The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office has been awarded a $20,000 grant from The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. Effect date of the grant is October 1, 2013 through September 30, 2014. The fund from the grant will be used to purchase traffic safety equipment and to support the Southern Region Traffic Enforcement Network (SRTEN). The SRTEN is a law enforcement network of forty agencies located in the surrounding twelve counties.

The equipment will be issued to the officers throughout all of the agencies to combat fatalities, injuries, crashes and arrests. In Lowndes County there has been a steady decrease in traffic fatalities since 2009.
