BBLogoVALDOSTA — The Valdosta-Lowndes County Development Authority (VLCDA) announced Wednesday that Bimbo Bakeries USA Distribution, a subsidiary of one of America’s top producers of premium baked goods, will construct a new 7,500-square-foot distribution facility in Hahira that will employ up to 13 people. The project will bring $771,000 in new investment to Lowndes County.

Bimbo’s new facility, which will be located on 2.0 acres at Hahira Business Park, will store and distribute Bimbo Bakeries leading brands by independent operator sales representatives to retail and foodservice customers in the Southeastern market. The company will employ 1 distribution center manager, 2 distribution center material handlers, and 10 independent operator sales representatives. Bimbo has contracted with Busby Hahira, LLC to design and build the facility, scheduled for completion in February 2015.

“We are very excited that Bimbo Bakeries USA Distribution decided to invest in Lowndes County,” said Andrea Schruijer, Executive Director of the Valdosta-Lowndes County Development Authority. “I believe its choice speaks volumes to the commitment Lowndes County has made to support its corporate citizens.”
