ATLANTA — After “throwing the book” at several of the convicted educators who falsified student testing results had their sentences reduced by the same judge.

After asking for and not receiving remorse and confessions from the last of the defendants still proclaiming their innocence, the convicted teachers had been sentenced harshly by Judge Jerry Baxter of the Fulton County Superior Court.  Each was sentenced to seven years in jail and 13 years on probation.

However, those sentences were reduced on Thursday for the three educators as their sentences were reduced to three years in prison and seven years on probation, effectively cutting their sentences in half.  They were also fined and sentenced to community service.
