ATLANTA — Victor Hill, the Clayton County Sheriff charged in a shooting, critically injuring a woman, has issued a statement.

Stating the incident was an “accident”, Hill asked for prayers for the victim.  Hill was charged with Reckless Conduct related to the shooting of Gwenevere McCord on Sunday.

Hill surrendered to authorities in Gwinnett County on Wednesday after being charged with the misdemeanor.  He posted bond after only being at the jail for 35 minutes, according to a report from WSB.

The incident has been reported by police as involving the shooting of McCord Sunday evening inside a Gwinnett County model home.  McCord, a realtor, was working at the house.

Though Hill claims the shooting accidental, reports state the Gwinnett County District Attorney, Danny Porter, as stating discrepancies exist between what Hill stated on a 911 call after the incident and what the evidence showed.  Further, Hill refused to cooperate with authorities or provide a statement at the scene.

The arrest warrant stated that Hill “consciously disregarded a substantial and unjustifiable risk.”  Further, the warrant describes Hill as practicing “police tactics” using a loaded firearm inside the model home which was open to the public.
