PERRY — An Alabama woman has been indicted by a Houston County grand jury on multiple vehicular homicide charges in a crash last year between a car and a motorcycle on Interstate 75.

Rosellen Taylor Peddrick, 23, also was indicted Tuesday on charges of serious injury by vehicle, driving under the influence of drugs, driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving and other driving offenses. The five vehicular homicide charges are based on the underlying charges such as driving under the influence of alcohol.

Peddrick is accused of driving a 2006 Toyota Camry under the influence of alcohol and Diazepam, a prescription drug used to treat anxiety, muscle spasms, seizures and other medical conditions, according to the indictment. She’s also accused of failing to wear prescription eyeglass or contact lenses.

Beverly Lacey Fortner, 43, the passenger on a 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Daniel Shawn Parker of Marietta, was killed in the April 11, 2014, crash on Interstate 75 about 195 feet north of Firetower Road. Parker suffered a broken arm, the indictment said.

Both vehicles were traveling south on I-75 in the right lane at 9:30 p.m. when the car struck the right side of the motorcycle, causing Parker to lose control of the vehicle and run into the east southbound emergency lane, the Georgia State Patrol said.

Both Parker and Fortner were wearing helmets. Fortner was ejected from the motorcycle.
