MIAMI — On Thursday, Feb. 12, Robert Luck, South Florida judge was physically attacked by 57-year-old Ricardo Garganelly during a court hearing.
The arrest report stated that Luck declined medical attention from paramedics but did have a scratch to his neck and a laceration to the back of his head.
Court officers pulled Garganelly off of Luck immediately. Garganelly was in court for charges of battery on an elderly person and was declared mentally incompetent to proceed to trial.
After the attack, he was arrested and charged with battery on an elected official.
Luck returned to the bench on Friday after the attack, but has recused himself from the case.
