PEARSON — A lawsuit has been filed against the Atkinson County Board of Elections in connection with the recent election.

Garry Hall, a candidate for Mayor of Willacoochee, lost the recent election by only one vote. A previous time Hall ran for the same office he lost by three votes.

He believes that staffers working the election for the Board of Elections in Atkinson County made mistakes that cost him his bid to become the next Mayor of Willacoochee.

The race was won by Samuel Newson with a total of 198 to 197. A recount of the most recent ballots turned up the same results with Newson winning by one vote.
