VALDOSTA – Thursday evening, the Humane Society of Valdosta-Lowndes County hosted an open house at their new building.
They moved in late December, at 1740 West Gordon Street in Remerton.
They say the previous building was older, smaller, and rented.
The new site now has adoption rooms and all new pet furniture.
They’re also in the process of buying their first van to transport pets.
With community support and years of saving, the Humane Society says the building is a dream come true.
They’re hoping more people will sign up to volunteer and foster with the new move.
They say it’s puppy and kitten season, and calls are coming in every day for rescue.
People also abandon their pets and tie them to the Humane Society front door.
They hope their new surveillance system keeps the problem from happening in the future.
