Wild Adventures theme park is looking for some new employees. Park administrators say that 100 new hires in the aquatics and food services areas will take place. Interviews for the open positions will take place April 21st. Persons seeking jobs as lifeguards at the Splash Island Water Park will be trained and certified at Wild Adventures. A Farmington Hills, Michigan father jumped into the water at Jacksonville Beach in an attempt to save his six year old daughter and he was drowned. The daughter had been caught in strong surf and was pulled under. 28 year old William Moritz was on an outing with family members when the incident occurred. The six year old girl was rescued and taken to the hospital; no word on her condition.

Members of the Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.in Valdosta are lending their support to an event to heighten awareness on the health problem of Asthma. A Breathe Easy 5K Run/Walk and Health Expo; registration is at 7 a.m. the 5K begins at 8 a.m.Saturday, May 14, at Valdosta State University’s Student Recreation Center. The Florida average price for a gallon of gas is $2.06, up 1 cent from a week ago, but 42 cents cheaper compared to this time last year. The Georgia average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas moved 9 cents higher compared to last week to $2.09, still that’s 22 cents cheaper than a year ago. Georgia’s average has been above $2 a gallon for 20 consecutive days, the longest streak since November 2015. Nationally, motorists are paying $2.11 per gallon, up 7 cents from last week. The national average could rise another 10-15 cents by Memorial Day.

Law enforcement officials are sweeping the streets of Albany and Dougherty County. The multi-agency unity conducted traffic stops and checked out 230 people. 12 were arrested, and 70 others were given citations. The targets of the the initiative involve drugs and violent criminal activity. More of these type of operations are planned for the future.
