VALDOSTA — The deadline to apply for the city board and commission vacancies in Valdosta is fast approaching.

There are 10 vacancies on the public art advisory board, construction board of adjustments and appeals, the Community Development Block Grant advisory committee, and the tree commission.

The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Wednesday. Some applications had come in as of Monday and the city was hopeful the positions would be filled, but officials were asking anyone interested to still apply.

“It’s really important for citizens to have an influence on decisions being made that reflect the quality of life in our community,” said Valdosta’s Public Information Officer, Semantha Matthews told WALB in a report. “We’re hopeful that the positions will all be filled. There are ten vacancies right now and they’re all in very influential positions.”
