VALDOSTA – South Georgia Medical Center announces the affiliation of Ahmad T. Haq, MD, FACP, MBA in the role of Director of Hospital Medicine. Dr. Haq is employed by EmCare, one of the world’s largest and most experienced physician management companies. EmCare has partnered with SGMC to provide quality inpatient care for hospitalized patients. He will oversee the hospital medicine program at SGMC and the Smith Northview Campus. His primary focus will be to create a robust core of clinicians to provide hospitalist care as well as ensuring a proper continuum of care for patients of the area’s primary care physicians.

Haq, Ahmad  MDsgmc,Dr. Haq specializes in adult internal medicine. After operating a private internal medicine practice for many years, Dr. Haq transitioned into hospitalist care, working in Virginia, Alabama and South Carolina. He most recently served as the director of hospital medicine at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC. He brings over 30 years of clinical experience to his new role. Over the last eight years Dr. Haq directed hospitalists’ programs in three locations.

A former medical college professor and noted medical lecturer, Dr. Haq is board certified in Internal Medicine and board qualified in Clinical Pathology. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Haq received his MBA in Healthcare Management through the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He is married to Alia and the couple plans to reside in Valdosta.
