THOMASVILLE — A house fire occurred last night, leaving one man dead.

The homeowner, 85-year-old Homer Lewis Hayes was found dead inside the home around 1:00 a.m. on 205 Alexander Street. The Thomasville Fire and Police Departments and State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
