VALDOSTA — It was a clean sweep for Republican candidates in Tuesday’s election with both local and state-wide offices going to the GOP.

Locally, Ellis Black won the state senate seat held by Tim Golden, defeating Democrat opponent Bikram Mohanty.  John Corbett also won Black’s former state house seat.  Mark Wisenbaker earned a solid victory for the Lowndes District 3 Commission race, completing the local sweep.

Statewide, both major races, for Senate and Governor went red, with David Perdue handily defeating Michelle Nunn without the need for a later run off in the Senate race and Nathan Deal being re-elected to the Governor’s mansion, defeating Jimmy Carter’s grandson, Jason, also without a run off.

Republicans also sweep the statewide constitutional offices.  Valdosta Today will have complete election analysis later today.
