LCSO Search for Valdosta Transitional Center Inmate

Marvin-SmithLOWNDES COUNTY, GA – Deputies and investigators from the Sheriff’s Office are working with the Georgia Department of Corrections to locate Marvin Smith, an inmate at the Valdosta Transitional Center who left the facility shortly after midnight on June 12 and failed to return. Smith was incarcerated following a motor vehicle theft conviction in Glynn County.

Marvin Smith is 5’9” tall, weighs approximately 160 pounds, has brown hair {with some balding} and blue eyes. Prior to his incarceration, Smith resided at a Brunswick, Georgia address.

Following Smith’s disappearance deputies took a report of a vehicle theft in close proximity to the Transition Center. The vehicle, a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee is gray-in-color and had a Georgia tag: ACU7690 displayed at the time of the theft. It has not been confirmed if these events are related.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Marvin Smith.

Anyone having contact with Marvin Smith or the vehicle should immediately contact their local law enforcement.
