Alex-Terrell-Wiregras-Tech VALDOSTA, GA – Alex Terrell, a Marketing Management student at Wiregrass Georgia Technical College, placed as a finalist (top 15) International Collegiate DECA competition held in Washington, D.C. in the final round he placed in the top 10. Alex competed against 42 students from colleges and universities from around the nation in the Professional Sales competition.

Terrell presented a prepared business to business sales presentation on a single tooth anesthesia device that dentists and oral surgeons can use in their practice. It allows the dentist or oral surgeon to give the patient a soothing way to receive the patient a shot. His objective in the presentation was to “sell” his product to prospective dentists with the overall benefit of retaining patients which could lead to early screening for oral cancer and thereby reducing the number of deaths caused by oral cancer.

His advisor and instructor, Phyllis Lightsey shared, “As his instructor and advisor, I have seen Alex start from a seed and grow with his skills and experience in the classroom and his involvement in all aspects of Wiregrass. One of my greatest rewards is to see students like Alex apply what we teach and be told by them “it works!”

Alex will obtain his Associate of Applied Science in Marketing Management – Marketing Management specialization and Entrepreneurship specialization with a career goal of becoming an Executive Sales Representative. He will graduate with his degree in the summer semester and will continue his education at Valdosta State University using the Pathway agreement between two colleges to obtain his Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership.
