Valdosta-Middle-School-BandVALDOSTA, GA – The Valdosta Middle School seventh grade concert band and eight grade symphonic band performed at the annual District 8 Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE) on Thursday, March 13, and again on Friday, March 14, 2014.  The event is held each year at Wayne County High School in Jesup, GA; yet again, our bands earned Superior ratings on stage and in sight-reading.  The bands were conducted by band directors Christina Huss and Susan Brashier.  Band LGPE is a GMEA sponsored event where school bands and their directors are evaluated on their musical performance and sight reading abilities.  This is the most important band performance of the year – our “Band CRCT”.

“We are so proud of all our young musicians from VMS- our bands have continuously earned top scores throughout the years, and continue to establish a Tradition of Excellence at Valdosta Middle School”, said Huss.  Ms. Huss is in her first year as Director of Bands at Valdosta Middle School, after teaching for 28 years at Brooks Co. High School in Quitman, GA.

Future performances for the VMS 6th and 7th grade bands include a Spring Concert on May 12th in the VMS gym at 7:00 PM, and on May 13th at the VHS PAC for the 8th grade band and VHS concert band, also at 7:00 PM.
