FHPTroopervehicle editLive Oak, FL- A 20-year old Mayo, FL woman is recovering following a two-car accident at SR-51 and 169th Road. A report from the Florida Highway Patrol states a 2006 Ford truck was parked with its headlights off in the middle of FL-51 around 3:30 Thursday morning when 20-year old Katie Baldwin hit the vehicle.

The impact sent her truck into a guardrail and tree, spinning the truck around into the northbound lanes. After the crash, the other driver, identified as 23-year old Gerardo Lopez of Live Oak, fled the scene on foot.

K-9 units from Suwannee County and the Hamilton Correctional Institute caught up with Lopez a short time later. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, driving without a license, and obstructing the roadway. A subsequent search found Lopez had two outstanding warrants.

The 20-year old remains in serious condition at Shands Hospital Gainesville.
