There’s a second-grade teacher near Dallas named Brandy Young. And a letter she sent home to parents last week is going viral, because it said she’s not assigning any HOMEWORK this year.

She said it’s because there’s still no proof that doing homework actually HELPS kids do better in school. And she thinks spending more quality time with their family might work better. Here’s what the letter said . . .

Quote, “After much research this summer, I am trying something new. Homework will only consist of work that your student did not finish during the school day . . .

“Research has been unable to prove that homework improves student performance. [So] I ask that you spend your evenings doing things that are proven to correlate with student success . . .”

Then she listed stuff they should do instead, like eating dinner as a family, reading together, playing outside, and making sure their kids go to bed early and get a good night’s sleep.

One student’s mom posted the entire letter on Facebook, and said her daughter is ECSTATIC about the new policy. And apparently a few other teachers in their school district might try it too.
