MOULTRIE -– Commissioner Gary W. Black announced today that the Georgia Department of Agriculture unveiled the third issue of the Georgia Grown magazine at the 37th Annual Sunbelt Agricultural Exposition. The 127-page magazine is a comprehensive guide to Georgia’s farms, forests, food and exports and serves as a synopsis for state legislators, business leaders and consumers about the impact of agriculture on the state’s economy.
“This magazine illustrates to readers across the state the importance of agriculture to Georgia’s economy,” said Black. “In Georgia Grown, you will find information regarding our state’s top commodities and new technological advances in agriculture, and see the importance that agribusiness plays in our state.”
The magazine, which is free to the public, is intended to educate Georgia consumers about their food source and give a voice to the state’s farmers. The magazine features original photography, reader-friendly charts and graphs and profiles of individual farmers. Articles focus on the state’s main commodities– while also digging a little deeper to uncover related industries and organizations that further the mission and economic impact of agriculture.
The digital version of Georgia Grown magazine will be hosted at www.GAagriculture.com. The magazine’s online presence features farm-to-table recipes, agriculture facts and stats, videos and interviews with farmers across the state. Published by Journal Communications Inc., the Georgia Grown magazine is available at the Georgia Department of Agriculture office in Atlanta, as well as other agribusinesses located throughout the state.
