ATLANTA – A new study finds that Georgia ranks in the top 10 states planning on home improvements more than most.

Release:

  • New data has identified the states most keen to revamp homes this year, with Georgia ranking eighth.
  • The study analyzed 50 search terms relating to remodeling to determine which states are least satisfied with their current homes.
  • Georgia residents are interested in remodeling their homes 31% more than the average American.
  • Demand for a ‘bathroom remodel’ is 118% higher than that of a ‘kitchen remodel’ in Georgia.

New research has revealed the states most eager to fix up their homes, with Georgia residents proving to be the eighth least happy with their properties’ current states.

The study, conducted by online self-storage finder SpareFoot, analyzed 50 different search terms related to remodels, such as ‘bathroom remodel’ and ‘kitchen remodel’ over the last 12 months.

These searches were then scaled against local populations to determine which states are the keenest to make home improvements.

According to the findings, those in Georgia are planning on home makeovers more than most. The state averaged 401 searches per 100,000 people each month, which was 31% higher than the national average of 306 searches per 100,000 residents.

The most popular terms Georgia searched for were ‘bathroom remodel,’ ‘kitchen remodel’ and ‘home remodel.’

Residents in Georgia averaged 9,783 monthly searches for ‘bathroom remodel,’ which is a 118% increase from the 4,992 average monthly searches for ‘kitchen remodel,’ indicating demand for bathroom fittings and fixtures will be significantly higher in the state.

Illinois is the state with the biggest urge to remodel, with 470 monthly searches per 100,000 residents – 54% above the US average.

The second is Colorado, which is still 46% higher at 447 monthly searches per 100,000 people. Maryland is third, with residents searching 39% more than the typical American, at 423 monthly searches per 100,000 people.

A spokesperson from SpareFoot commented on the findings:

“Now that we have entered spring, many people will be thinking of starting any home improvement projects they have on their bucket list for 2024.

“It’s the ideal time, as the weather is beginning to warm up, but it hasn’t become too sweltering to be doing manual labor – especially if it’s a small, unventilated bathroom you are planning work on.

“In fact, the bathroom was found to be the room Americans are most eager to improve, with around 256,000 searches made for ‘bathroom remodel’ each month. This is nearly double the number of searches for ‘kitchen remodel,’ which receives 138,770 searches each month on average.”
