Georgia shooting investigation turns homicide after victim dies

THOMSON – A 13-year-old shooting victim of a case being investigated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation has died.

Yesterday morning, the 13-year-old victim in this case died. The case is now being investigated as a homicide.

ORIGINAL RELEASE:

The GBI is conducting a shooting investigation at the request of the Thomson Police Department regarding a shooting in which a 13-year-old was shot. 

On Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at around 6:30 p.m., the Thomson Police Department responded to a call of gunfire at the 500 block of Anderson Avenue, Thomson, GA. When officers arrived, they found a 13-year-old boy from Thomson unresponsive with a gunshot wound. The preliminary information indicates that the victim and other minors were located in the 500 block of Anderson Avenue when several unidentified men approached and shot at the home multiple times, one of which hit the victim. 

The victim was taken to a local hospital. He is in critical condition.   

The GBI Regional Investigative Office in Thomson is currently following several leads in hopes of identifying the shooter or shooters in this case.
