Georgia’s election results to be recertified today

After the initial election votes were recounted twice, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced that election results will be recertified today, declaring Joe Biden the winner.

“Today the Secretary of State’s office will be recertifying our states election results,” Sec. Raffensperger said. “Then the safe harbor under the United States Code to name electors is tomorrow, and then they will meet on December 14th to officially elect the next president.”

The safe harbor Sec. Raffensberger referenced is tomorrow’s deadline to resolve election disputes, as declared by federal law.

“We have now counted legally cast ballots three times and the results remain unchanged,” the secretary said.

An automatic recount was triggered when the margin of win fell below .05%. The hand count did not affect President Trumps right to request a machine recount, which he did and was recently completed. It is unclear what the Trump campaign’s next move may be in his legal battle to overturn the results.
