LANIER CO., Ga. – On Friday, January 24 at approximately 5:30 p.m., Lanier County Sheriff’s Office investigators and patrol division units encountered a vehicle that had been identified to them as occupied by persons who had recently made a drug transaction in Nashville, Georgia.

As they spotted the vehicle it continued into town after entering the city limits on Highway 37 east from Ray City and it then pulled into the parking lot at a local medical facility.

The vehicle was exactly as identified in the information received from Nashville and the occupants were the exact ones identified. When first encountered in the vehicle it was discovered that one of the occupants had a loaded and cocked .45 semi-automatic pistol. Once the weapon had been removed and secured a search yielded a number of baggies of methamphetamine packaged to sell as well as a quantity of high-grade marijuana.

During interviews, the occupants admitted that they had in fact just purchased the illegal drugs and had been on their way to a residence in Lakeland, Georgia to deliver some of the drugs and said that they realized that law enforcement had likely seen them as they made the purchase.

Arrested at the scene were William Anthony Diaz, age 36, of Nashville, Richard Noel Tolley, age 26, of Nashville, and Amber D. Bond, age 31, of Nashville.

“Illegal narcotics and criminals carrying guns are something we deal with on a regular basis and I appreciate the way my investigators and patrol deputies handle these situations,” remarked Lanier Co. Sheriff Nick Norton. “They are cautious and professional and they do their best to make sure the situation is contained quickly and with as little drama as possible. Three criminals with a half dozen bags of illegal drugs and a loaded and cocked 45 pistol are something that needs professional attention and we are happy to provide it.”

The vehicle was impounded for its use in transporting the drugs and the pistol was seized as well. The Investigation into others involved in the transaction continues.
