MIRAMAR, Fla. — Following an armed robbery and a wild high speed chase on Thursday, December 5 during evening rush hour, four were killed when police surrounded a UPS truck that had been hijacked.

A news helicopter captured video showing the UPS truck weaving through traffic along one of the busiest highways in Miramar near Interstate 75. Police surrounded the truck when it got caught in heavy traffic and officers could be seen approaching the truck with weapons and opened fire. One person could be seen falling out of the passenger side of the UPS truck, but it was unclear if the shots were fired first from the police or the offenders in the truck.

The armed robbery had occurred 20 miles away in the Miami suburb of Coral Gables, according to Patch.com, where a jewelry store worker was reportedly injured but unclear if she had been shot.

The UPS driver, a bystander and two suspects were killed. He said the incident began about 4:15 p.m. when two armed robbers held up Regent Jewelers in Coral Gables, Patch.com reported.
