UPDATE: Investigators say a woman found dead in the Darien River earlier this month has been identified as 29-year-old Sammeka Barriner, of Wst Park, Broward Couny, Florida.

The GBI is now working with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office to determine what led to Barriner’s death.

The cause of death has not yet been determined and if anyone has information please contact the GBI at 912-729-6198.

McINTOSH CO., Ga – On Wednesday, April 3, 2019, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested by the Darien Police Department and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to assist in an investigation concerning an unidentified body that was located in the Darien River. 

The body is described as a black female, between the ages of 25-40 years old, 5’4”, and 245 lbs.  The female has a tattoo on her right forearm that reads “Dreams are Manifestations of our Identities.”
